Respite from the Sun
I like these
Dark, overcast days.
They give me the feeling
Of being protected
From that unforgiving sun -
Though I know
It’s only an illusion:
One well-placed flare
Could reduce us all
to cinders!
And the paradox is
That without the sun,
There could be
No cover of cloud!
We would be
Just another piece
Of rock and ice,
Wandering through space,
In search
Of another
Star.
